We are the FIRST in our area to adopt this truly unique approach!
As you may have seen from our posts on social media & our sign on the side of the building - we have adopted The Curiosity Approach. This is an accreditation that we are now working towards that we started in mid-January.
We are the first nursery in the area to adopt this approach.
The Curiosity Approach aim is to take us on a journey, helping us to revamp and develop our educational play space into a beautiful, purposeful and enabling environment, along with helping us to understand why we are doing this. We will be using authentic resources, recycled materials & loose parts, wooden items and baskets to create a natural, tranquil feel throughout the nursery.
The Learning Mill offers OFSTED regulated childcare provision and aims to provide high quality childcare and education for children up to 5 years. Opened in September 2010 by Amanda Cook and her family.
The Learning Mill offers:
• Flexible hours to suit working parents needs,
• Home from home learning environment,
• Fully qualified staff to N.V.Q level 3 or above in childcare and education,
• Healthy high class menu, cooked on site by our qualified cook, geared towards children's dietary needs.
Under the new common inspection framework from September 2015 inspection is now primarily about evaluating how well individual children benefit from the education provided by our nursery. Under this guidance we pride ourselves of having high expectations of what each child will achieve, staff have a secure understanding of the children’s age group they are working with and have undertaken relevant subject courses that is detailed and communicated well to children in nursery. Specialist training in Mathematical skills in the early years and communicating with confidence has been undertaken to ensure preschool children are well educated in these areas to be school ready for reception, as a nursery/preschool we follow the same Early Years Foundation Stage as any independent preschool or nursery School, all staff have been trained to a high standard as to implement the common inspection framework and give all children the best possible outcome.
Amanda has over 20 years experience in Early Years Childcare and Education. After achieving an OFSTED outstanding at her previous practice, Amanda had also achieved an OFSTED outstanding award for Leadership and Management and good in all other areas at The Learning Mill in January 2011 after only being open for 5 months!
